Chieko was born and grew up in New Jersey although she frequently travelled to Japan to visit her mom's side of the family. She learned Japanese on her own as a teenager, she studied in Tokyo for a year and she really enjoys Japanese food. When she was 20, she had to choose which of the American or Japanese passport to keep. Although she picked the American passport, her heart and mind wished to continue representing both.
